12d Model Upgrade Seminars

12d Model V11 Upgrade seminars were run by EXDS in Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Newcastle last week. Tony Ingold, Rodney Burns, and Marc Ferguson delivered the roadshow and everyone was impressed by the cool new features in Version 11. The seminars were a chance to catch up with clients outside Sydney, as well as to showcase the features in the new version.

Upgrade seminars in Sydney, Adelaide and Canberra will follow later in the month.  Some of our larger clients have opted to hold in-house sessions during lunch rather than attend the public sessions.  Please contact us if you are in Sydney and would be interested in holding an in-house session.

Electronic Lodgement of Cadastral Data

12d-Model-eplan-electronic-lodgement-of-cadastral-data12d Solutions is steaming ahead with development of tools for electronic lodgement of Cadastral data for Version 11. Protocols for electronic lodgement have been under discussion for some years, and will become a reality for 12d Model users when V11 is released.  The LPI in NSW has been accepting electronic lodgement since earlier this year, and surveyors are starting to adopt the new system, which involved the creation and upload of an XML file, and which will eventually replace the existing paper/tiff image system.

Cardno Hard & Forester and Pulver Cooper Blackley have generously agreed to be involved in testing the new system, and programmers from 12d Solutions have visited both companies to discuss their existing workflow and requirements.

RoadFlow  12d-Model-TUFLOW-display-of-flow-velocity-vectors

RoadFlow is a tool for road designers who need to create 2d flow models. Detailed knowledge of TUFLOW modelling is not required, and a 2d flow model can be created from a tin, and run using TUFLOW in minutes.  Demonstrated for the first time in 2012 at the 12d Model User Conference, there have been two years solid work gone into making TUFLOW work inside 12d Model.  RoadFlow makes 2D overland flow modelling for land development easy and fast.

J.K. Williams and Partners are Consulting Engineers with a strong presence in the land development design in western Sydney.  Designers in the Land Development team at JKW are currently trialling the use of RoadFlow to model the effect of major storm events on their designs.  Early results are promising, and JKW plan to use RoadFlow to analyse projects which in the past would have relied on conventional 1d techniques.

Drones used on Construction Sites

Following up on our story about drones on construction sites (April Buzz),  Thiess have been flying monthly surveys of the Frederickton to Eungai section of the Pacific Highway.  They regularly take aerial photos of the 26.5 km project just north of Kempsey to track progress on the project.
